FOX RACING SHOX WINS SNORE MIDNIGHT 250 OVERALL DESERT RACE
Primm, Nevada (August 9, 2008) - Cameron Steele and the Desert Assassins pulled out all the stops in the Southern Nevada desert Saturday night as the ESPN / SPEED TV sports commentator captured victory for the first time in his #16 Trophy Truck equipped with FOX Racing Shox 4.3 Bypass shocks.Steele bested the entire field of 140 plus racers with a five-lap time of 5 hours, 11 minutes and 14 seconds taking the victory by a full three minutes over the nearest competitor.
Cameron Steele, Rick Geiser, Jamie Campbell all split time in the driver's seat of the Geiser-built Trophy Truck.
Racing at the 31st annual SNORE Midnight 250 presented by KC HiLites, Cameron Steele wasted no time in setting a torrid pace. Riding in the co-drivers seat was SCORE Baja 500 Champion, Heidi Steele, who commented, "Cameron drove great. Being a driver myself I felt I knew what he needed to know and what not to bother him with. It was a flawless race and we have to thank everyone who is part of our team. We couldn't do it without them and a concerted effort that they provide us."
The #16 Trophy Truck battled with Las Vegas Dissemination's T.J. Flores who hammered the Southern Nevada desert in his familiar green and white Class 1 car. Flores passed the #16 Trophy Truck while they were changing drivers for the second time, but Rick "Mad Dog" Geiser was able to reel in T.J. Flores and rocket past him on the way to the overall victory.
"Rick Geiser and Jamie Campbell put in great performances tonight," said Cameron Steele.
The Geiser-built race truck ran a flawless race all night long as Steele and his team finally got the monkey off their back after nearly two years of plying through the desert in search of victory.
"It's been a long road and although this isn't the biggest race of the year, we came out to test and we ran a solid race. What was just absolutely amazing was the suspension. I have to thank John Marking and Todd Tenbroek at FOX Racing Shox for their help with the suspension. It was absolutely perfect. This Nevada race course has some brutal cross grain that you have to just lay off a bit to get it through straight without any issues, but I never lifted and the suspension just slammed the desert floor sucking up everything.
I gave it. It is truly amazing that they have accomplished over there at FOX with these trucks weighing as much as they do," regarded Steele.
"I have raced on FOX Racing Shox for my entire career and I'm not about to change anytime soon," said ESPN / SPEED TV sports commentator Cameron Steele.
