Jeff KINCAID, Scott DOUGLAS & Johnny GREAVES Win Big at Crandon! GREAVES SETS FASTEST EVER LAP TIME AT Crandon International Raceway. Some 50,000 fans packed into the Crandon International Raceway for the four-day off road racing festival and the big winners were Jeff Kincaid and Johnny Greaves, who both stood on the podium representing the FOX Racing Shox brand.
The fireworks started Friday night as the Crandon Raceway and the Forest County Potawatomi Casino got together to host a $20,000 Pro Lite race in front of a growing crowd. Jeff Kincaid, a 5-time CORR Champion and a Crandon, Wisconsin resident, took the honors after a great race under the lights of the famed race track.
Crandon International Raceway has long been considered the "Indianapolis Race Track" of off road racing and for the past three decades, race fans have gathered in the woods surrounding the famed race track each Labor Day weekend.
This year was no different as thousands of excited off road racing fans packed into the raceway in search of what many regard as the best race track in the United States.
Friday night's win by Jeff Kincaid was followed up by a dominating performance from FOX sponsored, Johnny Greaves. Greaves unveiled his almost fully rebuilt Pro 4 and set the fastest lap ever at the Crandon International Raceway.
Greaves said, "It's great to be back. We had a pretty bad crash a couple weeks ago in Los Angeles and the crew worked day and night to put this race truck back together. Setting the fastest ever lap at Crandon was a great start back up by winning the Pro 4 race. We're glad to be back in the saddle of our race truck. Our FOX equipped Pro 4 is by far one of the fastest race trucks in the series and we have plans to continue winning during the back half of the year."
Amsoil's Scott Douglas got down to serious racing Saturday morning as he put his Amsoil/Kuhmo Pro 4 on the podium in the top spot fighting off charges from both Renezeder and Greaves. The El Cajon, California resident raced down the front stretch at over 100 miles per hour door-to-door with Renezeder as Kent Brascho jumped to an early lead in his Yates Racing powered Pro 4.
However after one lap Brascho pitched the truck into the gravel pit turn in front of 50,000 fans that packed the grandstands, grass hill and VIP suites and caught on fire. Rescue crews were on scene to extinguish the fire but that sidelined the man who has had one of the fastest trucks in the field so far this weekend.
Greaves then jumped to the front and lead for several laps as Douglas closed in on Greaves and made the clean pass. Greaves battled back racing at speed on the bumper of Douglas and as they both approached the gravel pit, Greaves got into Douglas that resulted in a black flag eliminating Greaves from racing for the win. Douglas head a tight line and drove hard holding off a charge from Carl Renezeder. Douglas dominated the field early and ran away with the victory.
In the famous Borg-Warner Governor's Cup race, FOX racer, Ross Hoek, battled against the nation's top teams to score his first ever podium finishing in second position. Hoek, from Holland, Michigan, outperformed all of the Pro 4 trucks taking the runner-up spot to another Pro-2 truck.
Over 50,000 spectators came out for the 4-day racing festival as the nation's best off road racers raced for the checkered flag.
