BITD HENDERSON DESERT CLASSIC - LAS VEGAS, NEVADA
Santee, California (December 6, 2008) Chet Huffman Motorsports unleashed their 2008 Geiser Bros. Trick Truck in the Nevada desert in early 2008 enroute to a dominating BITD Season Championship utilizing FOX RACING SHOX on all four corners. In the first race of the season, the Parker 425, Jerry Whelchel and Chet Huffman, teamed up to win the challenging race by an amazing 15 minutes for 1st overall including first to finish."Going into the Parker 425 race I knew we had a serious shot at taking the top spot and I wanted new 'hardware' bad," said Jerry Whelchel. At race mile 104, Chet and the CHM #40 showed an 11 mile lead and running flat out at 133 mph over second place #11 Dale Dondel. The crew now got real quiet and businesslike breaking down the pit area in nervous anticipation. Crew Chief Jason La Blue was pacing, staying quiet on the radio and checking in on the laptop positions...
Now with only 20 miles to go, a Victory was nearly in the bag as a mad dash was made by all CHM members, family and volunteers to get to the Podium arena to await the finish. Jerry was called up to speak and declined just to allay any "jinx" in premature celebrations but sure enough just as he stepped down a rumble came from the back and #40 crossed under the finish line FIRST PLACE OVERALL.
This past weekend Chet Huffman Motorsports rallied around the 200-mile Southern Nevada race course at the BITD Henderson Desert Classic finishing a strong second to another FOX RACING SHOX team to claim the Best in the Desert Championship.
The #40 Trick Truck team worked diligently all season long on shock tuning perfecting the incredible FOX 4.4 Bypass Shox. FOX Race Support Manager Todd Tenbroek recounted, "The Huffman Motorsports team has been working hard in several different test sessions on the shock setup. We have worked side-by-side with them in defining the ultimate valve tuning for their driving style and that truck works really good. The FOX Off Road Division is very happy that a FOX sponsored race truck won the BITD Championship. Chet Huffman and Jerry Whelchel are a couple of the best desert racers in the world and they're on FOX."
