A THANK YOU FROM KELLON WALCH, BITD 2009 VEGAS TO RENO
BITD Vegas to Reno 2009 — 1st place, stock mini truck class (7300) 996 miles and 3 days of the toughest Nevada Desert, in a stock class Ford Ranger with no problems. Yup, no problems! Wow, what a great three days!!!To All of You, my sponsors and everyone who has helped us from the beginning to make this possible, our gratitude and much thanks for your support! If you’re receiving this, you have helped us in some way get to this point and with great humility we want you to know we are grateful for the help.
RACE RECAP
We had a few overheating/vapor locking problems and that was it. I was so nervous for the race and bought so many spare parts and still cannot believe how smooth it went for us. It’s taken us a little longer than we anticipated to build the truck up and get all the bugs worked out. But this race proved we are getting the truck dialed in and working extremely well for a stock class vehicle. It was an insane amount of preparation and work for my cousin Quinn, Myself and our secretary “Big Cheeney”! We did everything ourselves and this makes all the effort and time away from the family worth it. No crazy stories, just a smooth and smart win with added points towards our ultimate goal of a class championship for the year. We also, of course, have a good list of improvements and a lot of good ideas to better the truck for the next race, which is our home town race as it starts and finishes in Alamo, NV.
HIGHLIGHTS OF OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE
FOX RACING SHOX—We wouldn’t have been able to go 1000 miles with no problems, without our suspension being dialed in. Thanks for all the help from the beginning!
BFGOODRICH—for the great tires and the new KRT tires that helped us through all the silt. We didn’t get one flat and used the same four (4) tires for every mile of the race. The new KRT tires are so good! Thanks for letting us test them.
FORD TRUCKS—for the quality vehicles and parts! Also, for the Ford Racing contingency program which helps us get to each race, as long as we keep winning. Thanks for believing in our team and for all the help from the beginning!
KC HILITES—for getting us through the long nights safely. Especially helping us see all the corners and ditches that come up so fast on you at night while your going 90 miles an hour through the desert!
POWERTRAIN CONTROL SOLUTIONS—for helping our bone stock tranny get through the race without one single hiccup!
REBEL COMMUNICATIONS—for helping us stay in touch with all of our pit crew as they chased us all over the state of NV!
POWERSPORTS GRAPHICS; These guys make some of the best graphics for motorcycles and four-wheelers, so experimented and got some on our truck. Thanks for your time and effort! BEST IN THE DESERT RACING ASSOCIATION—None of this would be possible if it wasn’t for Casey Folks and all the volunteers that help him. Thanks for this event Casey and the memories that will last a lifetime!
MY TEAM = MY FAMILY
This win is yours! A huge thanks to my wife, of course, for again letting me drain our savings account and to our grandma who gave each of us grandkids (4) a hundred dollars for the race. Also, to my good friends “the Medina’s” and all of our family who supported us for this race. My parents have always been there to pit and make food for me throughout my entire racing career and I really appreciate their help over the long three days.
Thanks again and see you for the next win!
