LUCAS OIL OFF ROAD LAKE ELSINORE PACKS THE HOUSE UNDER THE LIGHTS FOR EPIC RETURN OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA OFF ROAD NIGHT RACING!

Bryce Menzies LEADS Menzies Big Red Machine in #7 Super Clean/Ahern Rentals Unlimited 2 Truck under the Lights at Lucas Oil Off Road Series | Cameron Steele SHINES in Unlimited Buggy

Las Vegas, Nevada - Las Vegas' Bryce Menzies pulled up his “boot straps” as he went to work on Southern California’s newest short course track, the Lake Elsinore Motorsports Complex, in front of thousands of cheering fans. The 21-year old off road racer dazzled the crowd with his raw driving talent throughout the 3-day race weekend.

Rounds 7 & 8 of the 2009 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series kicked off under the Saturday night lights in front of a sold-out crowd at Lake Elsinore, California. Located between Los Angeles, San Diego and Palm Springs, Lake Elsinore, is centrally located in Southern California.

Bryce Menzies led the 3-driver team into the preverbal “Lion’s Den” at the Lake Elsinore Motorsports complex for a race weekend that would mark the halfway point of the 2009 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series. Larry Job raced his Unlimited Buggy, as did action-sports commentator, Cameron Steele. In addition to the Super Clean/Ahern Rental Unlimited 2 truck, Bryce debuted the Team Associated sponsored Unlimited 4 truck among the ranks of off roads racing elite.

The Las Vegas racing standout started in the back of the pack in Saturday’s Round 7 Unlimited 2 race, but that didn’t deter the young racer from charging the #7 Super Clean/Ahern Rental truck through the crowded field. By the time the mandatory yellow caution had waved and the field of racers was back to green flag racing, Bryce made his final charge around the track in search of a top five. He ended up finishing in the fifth position and accumulated the all-important top five championship points in his quest for the Unlimited 2 series championship.

Saturday’s Unlimited 4 race was his inaugural adventure into the world of Unlimited 4WD racing and kicked off with a bang early. Bryce commented, “It was crazy out there in the first couple turns. This was the first chance I had to get in the truck, so it was truly a learning experience. I look forward to increased seat timesoon.. Big thanks to Team Associated and the Coyne Motorsports family and crew for an awesome opportunity.” Bryce was sidelined about halfway through Saturday’s Unlimited 4 race by mechanical issues and ended the racing in seventh position overall.

Bryce’s top five finish in Saturday’s Unlimited 2 race allowed him the opportunity to start Sunday’s race in the second row after the mandatory top six inversion. Bryce explained, “Sunday’s Unlimited 2 race was quite different from the very beginning. There was chaos everywhere, but we got through it without too much banging. Our crew did a great job on the truck setup and my BFGoodrich Tires were hooking up better then ever. I got out in front early and just got into a solid racing groove. I held off charges from everyone until the final lap. I could feel the truck changing ever so slightly and I ended up looping it in Turn 3 with one lap to go. I’m very disappointed with the outcome since I led the majority of the race, but once again, every race is a learning experience and we’ve got to battle through these hiccups every so often. I have to give a big shout out to Super Clean, Ahern Rentals, O’Neill, BFG, FOX and all those companies that continue to support our racing endeavors. We couldn’t do it without them – Thanks to all,” said the smiling Bryce Menzies.

Bryce drove the #7 Super Clean/Ahern Rentals Unlimited 2 to third place after a battle against the nation’s top drivers. “Well be back with a vengeance at the next race, I guarantee that,” said the Vegas young gun.
Driving the No. 907 Mastercraft AlumiCraft-Honda was off road racing veteran, Larry Job. It was in late June that the affable racing champion put together back-to-back victories in rounds 5 & 6. Unfortunately, the weekend didn’t have the same results, but the Las Vegas contractor maintains a solid top-five in the point’s race for the series championship. Job commented, “Racing under the lights in Southern California reminds me of the days of yesteryear. The crowds were great and the racing action was exciting, it’s a fun time to be part of this off road phenomenon. The No. 907 didn’t have a stellar weekend on the track, but we continue our quest to win the series championship. The top five are only separated by a mere 18 points and I’m confident we’ll be there in the end.”

Despite starting 14th in Sunday’s Round 8 Unlimited Buggy race, the Big Red Machine’s celebrity superstar racer, Cameron Steele, cast a spell of his “buggy dork” magic on the entire field of Unlimited Buggy racers and claimed the runner up spot on the podium. The cagey off road racing veteran wasted no time in making a solid run for the checkered flag as soon as the race started. As the black and white flag signaled the end of the race, the San Clemente, California resident climbed to the second spot on the podium. “Of course I’m super stoked to give the team the needed shot in the arm here on Sunday. Anytime you reach the podium it renews your spirit, but my job isn’t over until I win… and win big representing Menzies Big Red Machine,” said Steele.

As Rounds 7 & 8 concluded under the bright lights of the Lake Elsinore Motorsports Complex, the Kingpin of Menzies Motorsports “Big Red Machine,” Steve Menzies smiled and said, “We started off a bit rough this weekend, but we had a strong comeback. Bryce had a good performance on Sunday, as did Cameron who raced hard and clean through the entire field to finish in second spot. Cameron is coming on strong here at the midway point of the season and although Larry had some bad luck racing this weekend, we know he’ll be back super strong in the next race. Bryce needs that all important seat time in the Unlimited 4 truck and he’ll be fine. All in all, it was a positive weekend. Our 2009 program is in continual growth mode and I’m proud of the guys all coming together and working as a well-oiled machine towards our primary goal of capturing season championships in multiple classes.”
