Hibbert wins Western National Pro Super Stock Final
Monster Energy/Arctic Cat's Tucker Hibbert experienced a race day full of highs and lows at the AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series (ACSS) Western National.
01.11.01 Goodridge, Minn. Monster Energy/Arctic Cats Tucker Hibbert experienced a race day full of highs and lows at the AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series (ACSS) Western National. Over 9,000 fans packed into the Rio Tinto Stadium Saturday night to watch national snocross racing for the first time in the state of Utah. After a dominating run in the Pro Super Stock final, leading the race from start to finish, Hibbert struggled in the Pro Open final. For the first time in nearly two years, the multi-time national champion, lost a final event.
Passing was difficult on the tight track and proved to be a challenge for the ultra-smooth Hibbert. Without a good start, riders found it nearly impossible to gain positions. Hibbert put on an amazing show in his qualifying rounds - fighting his way from the back of the pack numerous times and making passes where no other rider could.
After qualifying third for the Pro Open final, Hibbert had high hopes to take the holeshot and early lead as he did in the Pro Super Stock final earlier that night. He ended up third off the start and struggled to gain time on the leaders. He admitted to having difficulties getting comfortable on the tight course and felt he lacked corner speed. Shortly after the halfway mark of the 22-lap event, he tipped over in corner one. He was quickly shuffled to the back of the field but was able to regain his composure to charge forward to a seventh place finish.
Next up for Hibbert is the Air Force National in Shakopee, Minn. Jan. 22-23. He is focused on getting back to his winning ways at the familiar Canterbury Park Racetrack and plans on giving his home state fans a show they wont forget.
Tucker Hibbert - #68 Monster Energy/Arctic Cat
This was a tough day of racing. For the first time in a long time, I felt nervous on the track. I struggled to get comfortable and my race results reflected that. I was able to take the holeshot and win the stock class, which was awesome. The fans at the Rio Tinto Stadium were unbelievable! It was an amazing feeling to race in front of a packed stadium and it was obvious they really enjoyed the show.
To be honest, Im really upset about my performance in the open final. I got stuck in third and couldnt figure out how to make up any time on the guys in front of me. I would gain a little then lose a little. It was really frustrating. About halfway through the race, I made up my mind that I was going to win and put on a hard charge then tipped over. It was an awful feeling - laying there and knowing I was going to lose.
Im focused on showing up at Canterbury stronger then ever. Its my home state race and plan on giving my fans a show they wont forget!
