ROCKSTAR Energy’s Rob MacCachren unleashed the #20 JIMCO-built SCORE Trophy Truck in the sands of San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico facing perhaps the toughest field of competitors he’s ever raced in San Felipe, Baja California.
03.15.10 LAS VEGAS, Nevada ROCKSTAR Energys Rob MacCachren unleashed the #20 JIMCO-built SCORE Trophy Truck in the sands of San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico facing perhaps the toughest field of competitors hes ever raced in San Felipe, Baja California.
Starting the day from the 21st position, the #20 ROCKSTAR Energy/BFGoodrich Tires/Mastercraft Safety Trophy Truck charged from the starting line just before 10:00 a.m.
Racing off the line beneath the historic San Felipe Arches, MacCachren had hoped to celebrate his 45th SCORE Series victory, but that would not be the case as the Las Vegas, Nevada native battled a mechanical shock issue early in the race.
Spending five-days prerunning the torturous race course, MacCachren did his best to work the smoothest line through the big bumps of San Felipe. The first 60-miles of this years 248-mile race course was concern for many of the top off road racers and that ended up being a problem for the #20 ROCKSTAR Energy/BFGoodrich Tires/Mastercraft Safety Trophy Truck.
MacCachrens race truck suffered a rear shock issue that would end up slowing him to a top speed of 60-70 miles an hour for the rest of the day.
Of course, Im disappointed in our overall results, but we finished the race and gained important series points and well head into the SCORE Baja 500 in a good position among the top ten. I want to really win every single race we enter and facing the worlds top racers in the Trophy Truck ranks is not an easy task, but our ROCKSTAR Energy/BFGoodrich Tires/Mastercraft Safety team really persevered in getting this truck to the finish.
Rob MacCachren drove the #20 SCORE Trophy Truck across the line in 7th position physically after suffering a near race ending mechanical problem at race mile 15. Joined by the ROCKSTAR Energy Umbrella Girls at the finish line, MacCachren described the barren and difficult Baja desert. This was one of the toughest Baja courses Ive raced in a very long time. The square edged bumps from the recent rains put a spin on this years race like no one would have every thought, said MacCachren. I bet a lot of people will be reliving this race in the near future and they might not be smiling.
Rob MacCachren returns to the desert for the upcoming 2010 SNORE Mint 400 outside of Las Vegas, Nevada on March 27, 2010. MacCachren leads the SNORE 1600 class after winning the season opener at the SNORE Battle at Primm. On April 3, 2010, MacCachren will launch his ROCKSTAR Energy/BFGoodrich Tires/Mastercraft Safety Pro 2 at SPEEDWORLD in Surprise, Arizona.
