Bark River, Michigan - ROCKSTAR Energy Racing rolled into Bark River International Raceway in Michigans Upper Peninsula for Rounds 9-10 of the 2009 TRAXXAS TORC Series race weekend. A two-day total of nearly 15,000 fans came from throughout the United States to watch the nations top off road racers battle in one of the oldest short course tracks in the nation. Rob MacCachren entertained thousands of fans both on the track and in the pits as the ROCKSTAR Energy Drink ambassador signed posters throughout the weekend. Bark River Raceway is located ten miles Southwest of Escanaba, Michigan, on U.S. Route 41. The original off-road track was 5 miles, racers were expected to complete 20 laps for a total of 100 miles, and thus the U.P. Off Road 100 was born. Over the years, the course continued to be shortened and reconfigured into the modern day track (1.5 miles.) Bark River Raceway is said to be one of the most challenging courses on the TORC Series schedule, where drivers speed over 100 miles per hour. MacCachren immediately got to work after arriving to the track on Thursday midday. Bark River track officials made some slight changes to the racecourse and MacCachren was on the track early making his evaluations and how they would play into the weekend of racing. As the fans moved into the grandstands for the Friday night practice session, the #11 Ford PRO 2WD roared around the track improving times each and every lap and ultimately positioned himself in the top three of fastest laps. Early Saturday morning thunderstorms soaked the racecourse and Saturdays morning practice session was cancelled. MacCachren started in the third row of Saturdays Round 9 and immediately make a move towards the front after the first turn. The #11 churned up the dirt with his BFGoodrich Tires and raced hard before settling into his race rythym. After only a couple laps around the 1.5 mile track, MacCachren moved into position to pass several other race trucks. As the midway mandatory caution flag waved, MacCachren was in third position heading into the second half of the race. The #11 ROCKSTAR PRO2WD continued charging towards the front until MacCachren suffered damage from contact with another competitor. MacCachren flew high from the top of the TRAXXAS jump and as he landed, another competitor landed on top of the rear cage of MacCachrens race truck. Rob crossed the finish line in 4th place. We had a good truck for the race, its unfortunate that we lost the fans towards the end of the race with the contact from the other truck. The positive is that our engine temperatures were normal and we didnt hurt the motor package. Finishing in the top five is important at each race as we continue our quest for the season championship, said MacCachren. The changing weather didnt stop the fans from pouring into the Bark River International Raceway for Sundays TORC Round 10 as the grandstands were packed all day long. Once again starting from the third row, Rob MacCachren demonstrated how he has mastered the first turn at the famed Michigan track. That first turn can produce some race ending damage, but we seem to be able to stay out of trouble for the most part here at Bark River, commented the off road racing champion. Rob Mac settled into a fast paced groove early and swapped positions with McGrath, Vandenhuevel, Johnson and Taylor before setting his sights on the top spot. At the mandatory midway competition yellow flag, MacCachren found himself in the fourth spot. Primed to make his move to the front of the pack, Rob charged the ROCKSTAR Energy Racing FORD F150 through the field and stuck the front of the #11 truck in the inside of the leaders several times before a slight miscue in turn two. The 3-Time Borg Warner Cup champion was dealing with fuel pressure issues that plagued him early in the race. With only two laps before the checkered flag was waved, MacCachren pushed on and finished the race taking the third position on the podium. MacCachren said, It wasnt our best performance of the season, but were getting closer each and every race. Weve got our sights set on the season championship and as we continue to make progress each race. The ROCKSTAR Ford F150 was solid today until we had an issue with the fuel pressure. Were headed to Crandon International Raceway for the FORD Testing Day at the famed race track and well continue our march towards victory in three weeks at the 40th Crandon Anniversary Race. After 10 rounds of the 2009 TORC Series, MacCachren has accumulated 195 championship points placing him in third position among a tight group at the top. MacCachren is a mere 11 points behind the leader and only 3 points separate second and third position.
