KENDA-PLAYBIKER at round #5 MTB World Cup - Val di Sole, Italy - UCI ranking for teams
The team Kenda-Playbiker had another good round, showing this past weekend at the last European round of the UCI MTB World Cup, with Shaun O'Connor finishing in 32nd place after an over the tape in the last section of the track, Wyn Masters in 41st with a crash on the top and Nathan ranking suffering a massive crash mid run, and winding up 77th after having to take a brief sit on the side of the track.
The track in Val Di Sole is known for it's speed and technicality, and this weekend's racing was no exception. Sunny skies and deep, loose dirt kept race speeds off the charts, with the top riders averaging 39km/h. The first steep wooded section right out of the gate claimed a handful of riders before racing even got underway, thankfully no one seriously.
The team riders showed their skills all the weekend beeing paid back with the usual great exposure in the most important medias covering the gravity racing.
O'Connor continued his consistent string of top performances this season, and now sits comfortably in 16th place in the World Cup overall with one round remaining.
"I was really happy with my run, I just wanted to stay clean and stay on my bike. It's a tough track to do that when you try and go fast." the Australian said after his run."
Masters wasn't happy with his run, saying only that he made a few mistakes and could have gone better mid track.
Rankin was just happy to get down the track in one piece, after ending up in the dirt 4 times in his finals run. "The first crash just threw me off over the bars. I tried to get back on but had lost my momentum and I just started to get looser in every section, crashing harder each time. I'm just glad that one's over and I can heal up. I can't even put on deodorant on one side because of the scratches!"
The team now heads to Pila, Italy, for a few weeks of training and relaxation. In its home resort, the team will race the IXS European Cup which will take place the 21st-22nd of August, before leaving for the next World Cup round in Windham, NY and the following World Championship in Mont Sainte Anne (Canada), where Shaun, Wyn & Nathan will represent their Countries, having been selectioned for their respective national teams.

After the last update of the UCI ranking of August the 2nd, the team now sits in 8th position in the UCI Ranking for teams.
