The track remained unchanged from last week, except for the fact that it was dry, and had 100's of training runs on it so things became super rough. Nevertheless, yesterday Tracy Moseley qualified fastest with a 4m 33secs, which was 16 secs faster than World Cup rider Miriam Ruchti of Switzerland in 2nd.
Justin Leov was 2nd in qualifying with a 3m 56secs, showing that the course was running at least 15 seconds faster than last week's World Cup finals. Fastest in qualifying was Nick Beer (SUI), 4 seconds quicker than Justin.
Today in the final Tracy stepped it even more and won by a massive 23 seconds....and Justin scored a great win ahead of Steve Smith (CAN) and Nick Beer (SUI). The winning margin for Justin was 0.23secs...and his finals time was 7 seconds quicker than qualifying.
Justin said: "A pretty solid run. After qualifying I knew I had to step up the level of my riding. By winning today I hit all of my objectives for the weekend. I also trained hard all this week. My legs were feeling a bit stiff this morning, but they soon warmed up after a training run on the DH course. I'm happy for both Tracy and I."
Tracy said: "My final run was a bit sketchy at the start, but then it settled down. The course is now so rough but I hit most of my lines. That was tough on the hands today and I had to work hard to get down fast. I'm glad I dont have to ride this DH course again; its about done."
