05.20.10 Emily Batty flew to Europe a week early so she could take part in the Bundesliga race in Heubach (GER), which is a great warm up to this weekend's World Cup round in Offenburg (GER). Many top World Cup racers use this event to check their form before the Offenburg race.
Mathias had exams and Luk was not feeling 100%, so Emily made the trip with our mechanic Oli Kaderli, and came away with a well earned 3rd place, ahead of reigning World Champion Irena Kalientieva (RUS).
Emily said: "Heubach this past weekend was a great experience. It was an unusual race course with 250 meters of straight climbing followed by a very muddy but fun descent. With such muddy conditions the organizers decided to play it safe and only have the women do 4 laps, which turned out to be a 'short' race at 1:18min, which suited me fine. We didn't get any rain Saturday nor Sunday so the course was drying but almost made for worse conditions with the mud being too thick and heavy. So without a doubt, I put the new Bontrager XR2 tires to the text. Loved them! They still had very good rolling speed, wicked traction and shed the mud perfectly. I had a great start and felt pretty comfortable up the killer climb. From there I stayed in 2nd place for the first couple of laps but later I got caught and maintained 3rd. I was happy with how I was riding and how I felt. Also, honored to stand beside the World Champion, Irina Kalentieva on the podium :) "

Also, check out the new video from Dirt after they weighed the top ten qualifying bikes after qualifying at Round 1 of the World Cup in Maribor (SLO). Justin's Session 88 was the lightest bike, and was without any 'trick' titanium components, it was in regular race set up. Thanks to all our sponsors who ensure we have the best kit to race on, now it seems, the lightest!
