Maxxis-Rocky Mountain's Geoff Kabush Wins Vermont Pro-XCT and Sets All-Time Win Record
It just keeps getting better and better for Team Maxxis-Rocky Mountain’s Geoff Kabush.
Kabushs Pro-XCT campaign so far this year had mixed results, starting the season with a win in Fontana, but finishing off the top spot in the next two events in Alabama and Colorado. Fellow Canadian Max Plaxton (Sho-Air) took the win at the Colorado event and held the series lead going into Vermont.
From the gun, a likely bunch formed at the front of the race, with Kabush stringing out the field with a huge effort that only Horgan-Kobelski, Wells, Schultz, and Sid Taberlay (Sho-Air) could stay with. On lap two it was Schultz who came through the start/finish area putting in a big effort with the others following closely behind. Plaxton, clearly suffering dangled behind the frontrunners and settled into seventh spot.
Lap three saw the Fisher riders get dropped from the lead group with Kabush, Taberlay and Wells duking it out for the lead. Taberlay sat in while Kabush and Wells did the pace setting and on the final lap, Kabush launched an attack the other two riders couldnt match. Kabush cruised in to the finish with a 1:11 gap on Taberlay and 2:01 on Wells.
With the win in Vermont, Kabush set the record for all time U.S. national series wins with a staggering fifteen wins, surpassing his boyhood idol John Tomac. This achievement surely raises Kabush to an iconic level and the record is sure to stand for quite some time.
Sundays short track event saw Kabush victorious again with Todd Wells and Adam Craig (Giant) rounding out the top three. Kabush also holds the record for all time STXC wins.
Maxxis-Rocky Mountains downhill duo of Luke Strobel and Cameron Cole took first and second respectively in the Pro Mens Downhill event.
