FOX Racing Shox riders sweep podium again at last round of the 2010 AMA ATV Pro Championships
Chad Wienen won the battle this weekend but Josh Creamer won the war.
08.18.10 Chad Wienen may have won the battle this weekend, taking the victory aboard his Motoworks/Can-Am, but Josh Creamer on his Rockstar/Makita/Suzuki won the war. Creamer sealed his first AMA ATV Pro Championship on Sunday, August 15th at Loretta Lynns Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.
Creamer took the $250 MotorcycleUSA.com holeshot award and appeared to be on his way to his 7th overall win of the year and the 2010 championship. Yamaha rider Thomas Brown made his way into second with an aggressive pass on Josh Upperman going into the famed Ten Commandments whoop section. Brown then chased down and caught Creamer before suffering a flat tire which would eventually drop him to fifth.
Wienen would be the next to challenge Creamer after getting around Dustin Wimmer. Wienen laid down some consistently fast laps and was able to catch and pass Creamer for the lead. Wimmer soon followed suit and passed his teammate for second. Creamer stayed focused on the title and settled comfortably into third.
Then things got interesting. While cruising around in third place, Creamer cart wheeled his LTR 450, dropping him well outside the top five. He eventually raced his was back up to seventh place, giving him more than enough points to win the title.
Wienen stretched out his gap to several seconds, taking the win over Dustin Wimmer. That makes two victories in a row for Chad Wienen and the Motoworks/Can-Am team. Walsh Race Craft/Fox Shox rider Jeremy Lawson rounded out the podium in third. This marks the 8th time in the 11-round series that Fox Shox sponsored riders swept the AMA ATV Pro podium!
FOX Racing Shox rider Chase Snapp rode to a 5th place finish in ProAm Production, which was good enough to secure the 2010 ProAm Production Championship.
Results:
First: Chad Weinen
Second: Dustin Wimmer
