Despite weather delays and very wet and muddy track conditions, Can-Am's Adam McGill found his way to the pro podium yet again at the John Penton round of the 2010 GNCC series, while Cliff Beasley kept his winning streak going in the morning U2 class and Bryan Buckhannon took another win the 4x4 Open class.
06.05.10 St. Cloud, MN - Despite weather delays and very wet and muddy track conditions, Can-Ams Adam McGill found his way to the pro podium yet again at the John Penton round of the 2010 GNCC series, while Cliff Beasley kept his winning streak going in the morning U2 class and Bryan Buckhannon took another win the 4x4 Open class.
About ten minutes before the XC1 Pro class was about to head to the starting line, Mother Nature let loose with a deluge of rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning. The intense weather was so bad that officials decided to postpone the race for an hour as rivers of mud and water flowed through the track.
Finally the pro class was let go to fight their way through the torrid track conditions and despite the mud and water, Warnert Racings Adam McGill was in around sixth place off the line and soon began to work his way through the mud. It was pretty tough out there so I just tried to ride smart and finish, stated McGill, who would charge his way to a second place finish on the podium. Teammate Chris Bithell would hang on to finish just outside the top five in the number six spot.
The morning classes had much better conditions for their races as no rain had fallen yet. The tacky conditions helped Cliff Beasley take an early lead in the U2 class and check out on the competition. Beasley led from start to finish taking his eighth straight win of the season. Beasley is the current class points leader and if he is able to take the win at round nine, he will have the U2 class championship in the bag before going to summer break.
Also in the morning classes, Bryan Buckhannon was looking impressive as he charged off the start in the 4x4 Open class. Buckhannon would lead from start to finish taking his sixth win of the season. Buckhannon is also the class points leader and could easily wrap up the championship before the end of the season if he stays consistent.
Round nine of the 2010 GNCC series will be heading to the Snowshoe Resort in West Virginia on June 26th where the Warnert Racing team will be shooting for the podium once again and Cliff Beasley hopes to wrap up the U2 class championship.
