04.19.10 Washington, GA Warnert Racings Chris Bithell and Adam McGill both landed in the top five of the XC1 Pro class at The General GNCC, while in the morning classes, Cliff Beasley and Michael Swift dominated the utility classes.
Adam McGill put on an incredibly hard charge for round two that allowed him to take another top five finish and hang on to third in the points chase. McGill was last off the line going into the first lap, but he put his head down and gave it his all. McGill had worked his way into the number six spot by lap two, and in lap four of the five lap race, McGill would get his second wind and push even harder to take the number four spot before reaching the checkered flag. I went as fast as I could for as long as I could. I wasnt about to let up because at the end of the season I want to have the championship, said McGill.
Pro teammate, Chris Bithell, came off the line with a vengeance and led for three laps before a mud hole and lap traffic got the best of him and he would fall back to the number five spot where he would stay all the way to the finish line. Bithells consistency and strong performance have him sitting in a strong fifth place in the points chase, with the potential to take over a top three position if all goes well at the next round.
Also in the afternoon classes, Jamie Bithell put on another strong showing in the College A class as he charged his way to a second place finish. Bithell charged his way up from a mid pack start to claim the number two spot by the second lap, which he would hold all the way to the checkered flag.
In the morning classes, Michael Swift would once again remind everyone why he is the current champion in the 4x4 Limited class. Swift was second off the line, but took the lead shortly into the second lap. Swift would fall back to second when he stopped to pit at the midway point, but retook the lead with ease and checked out to take the win. It feels great to go out there and take another win for Can-Am and Warnert. The bike has been running great and I am looking forward to round three, stated Swift.
Cliff Beasley also showed them whos the boss in the U2 class. Beasley was third off the line, and after a short battle with Jerime Dudding and Mike Benson, Beasley took over the lead in lap two and checked out. Beasley finished well over two minutes ahead of the competition to take his second win of the season. The competition is a little tighter this year, but that just gives me more motivation to go out there and win, said Beasley.
In the 4x4 Open class; Bryan Buckhannon would take a solid second place that now has him tied for the points lead. I plan on going out there and taking the win at round three, said Buckhannon, who is determined to defend his title.
The next round of the 2010 GNCC series will be held at Steel Creek in Morganton, NC on March 20th, where the Warnert Racing team will be shooting for the podium.
