2009 Heartland Challenge Pro Race Report
FOX Racing Shox Riders Dominate!
09.21.09 Kyle Martin, Duane Johnson, and Michael Burrows took home the Overall win and $6,000 at the recent GBC Heartland 10 Hour Endurance Race in Iowa. All three machines were prepped by Dirtworks Motorsports out of Willow Springs, MO and each machine was equipped with Fox Racing Shox all around.
The excellent weather and track layout let the Dirtworks team really push with the Fox Racing Shox throughout the day and into the long night session. Great competition kept the race close from the start as the Dirtworks team battled back and forth for the lead with the HMF team of GNCC standouts Donnie Ockerman, Brian Wolf, and Walker Fowler. The other Pro team that was running up front most of the race consisted of Jeffery Pickens and Jarrod McClure (Team GBC), both top national riders as well.
As each rider on the Dirtworks team raced for the lead, the HMF and GBC teams kept the pressure on. For nine hours no lead from any of the Pro teams was more than 1 minute, now that is close racing! The fans got a great show as the talented riders gave their all even as the sun faded out. Team GBC had mechanical problems around the 5 hour mark dropping them back, leaving the battle to go on between the Dirtworks team and team HMF. This battle lasted until about 45 minutes left in the race as a motor failure for the HMF team put them out of contention for the win.
This let the Dirtworks Team cruise on into become the 2009 GBC Heartland Challenge Champions! The team could not have done it without the help from Josh and Randy Owens of Dirtworks Motorsports (417) 469-DIRT. They put together great machines and fabricate excellent parts that kept the team going strong to the finish. Great pit stops and an abundance of help in the pits also played a major factor for getting the team on top of the podium. The other major advantage came in the suspension department as the Dirtworks team was the only Pro team with all machines running Fox Racing Shox. The Dirtworks team claimed the victory with a two minute margin after 10 grueling hours of intense racing!
