The Santa Barbara area has many chances to participate in a trails related event during the months of September and October - here's the list:Wednesday 9/2/2009
Front Country Trails Task Force Meeting
5:30 p.m.
City Council Chambers 735 Anacapa Street, 2nd Floor
These important meetings are a chance for you to listen to developments/difficulties within our trail system and voice your opinion. This meeting will cover post Jesustia Fire Trail recovery efforts, the schedule of management objectives for the frount country trail system, and current trail maintenance efforts. Community participation is of great value at Trails Task Force Meetings.

Trail Maintenance, San Ysidro Trail, National Public Lands Day
8:00am
Skofield Park parking lot
Join the Forest Service and local trail maintenance organizations on San Ysidro Trail for it's first major trail work event in seven years. Overgrowth has forced users to outer edge of the trailbed causing the edge to break and and trail to collaspse. Participants will cut overgrowth back to help restore original trail corridor, re-establish use in the center of the trailbed, and improve sustainability. More info as available.

Kids and Parents, National Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day

Elings Park, upper (hang glider) parking lot
Parents! Bring your nine to fifteen year old budding cyclists to experience the 360 degree views and sweet single track of Elings Park! This national event brings kids and parents together to build an appreciation for the great outdoors and cycling. Tune ups, snacks, trail guides, naturalists, and instruction will be provided by the Santa Barbara Mountain Bike Trail Volunteers and participating organizations. More info to come at www.sbmtv.org

The Forest Service and participating Trail Organizations will be hosting a trail crew leader training day. More info soon.

September 15th - October 5th (approximately). Aerial hydro-mulching of the Jesustia Fire Burn Area. It is likely the trails in the Jesusita Fire Burn Area will be closed during the hydro-mulch operation. More info to come.
October 20th
CCC and Forest Service crew water control structure improvement 20 day project in Jesusita Fire Burn Area.
October 17th-19th, Kernville Fat Tire Fest
