Due to the logistics of travel, Georgia only had one bike for the mud fest at Granogue. That didn't slow her down as she decimated the women's field for her first UCI cross victory. Sunday's course was much drier, but the results were the same. Georgia won again by over a minute, racking up valuable UCI points that determine one's start position at the World Championships.

Last weekend I went down to Northstar at Tahoe with a couple friends to compete in the Race for Tara.
A big box from FOX HQ in California turned up at the Dirt office today. Among some other bits was a set of the new Fox 831 4x, dirt jump forks. I remember seeing Jared Graves and Dan Atherton with a pair of these bad boys at the World Champs in Canberra.

Tracy Moseley capped off Trek World Racing's debut season with an impressive victory on arguably the toughest downhill track in World Cup racing.

The World Cup Finals were this past weekend in Schladming, Austria. Catharine Pendrel had a fantastic ride, finishing 3rd. She gained enough points to finish 3rd in the overall World Cup standings.

Less than a week after finishing with his first ever World Cup elite podium at Champery, 20 year old Mathias Flueckiger showed what an incredible future star he is for the sport by taking 3rd place here at the final round of the World Cup in Schladming, Austria.
The Schladming Downhill track doesn't disappoint despite the hard rain and mud.

I've been pretty stoked on skiing this week. Maybe it's arriving in the little Swiss Alps village of Champerey and looking at avalanche barriers and classic lines on the Dents du Midi across the valley that reminded me of impending winter.

25 year old Lukas Flueckiger and his 20 year old brother Mathias once again made history for Trek World Racing by finishing 4th and 5th in Round 7 of the UCI World Cup, and in so doing, also set a new first by being the only brothers ever to be on a UCI World Cup podium together.
Catharine placed 10th, moving her into 3rd overall with one race to go.
Today was the day I have been anticipating for six months; my first cyclocross race since 2004. Ever since I decided to come back and race cross, I knew there was going to have to be a “first race”. Today was that day, and I survived!

This was my last weekend to get in some good hard racing before the start of the cross season. The Colorado schedule finished up with a four day stage race in Steamboat Springs over Labor Day weekend.

Sorry for the lack of communication the last couple weeks, I’ve been enjoying taking it easy mid-week at home in Maine and not having much in the way of innerweb access on the race weekends either.
After the two World Cup races in Quebec, and a visit to Trek's headquarters in Wisconsin by the XC and DH team riders, the two DH men headed to the MTB Mecca, Whistler Mountain, about 2 hours outside of Vancouver.

This is what it's all about. Mt St Anne, in preparation for world champs 2010 spruced up the outdoor moto hip section with a few much appreciated kickers. Early on day one practice Dan Atherton boosts for the cameras and overhead cheers from his peers passing above in the gondolas.
The cross country race was a tight battle between Willow Koerber (Gary Fisher/Subaru), Catharine Pendrel, Georgia Gould, Katerina Nash, and Lea Davison (Maxxis).

The Trek World Racing XC riders returned to World Cup racing after several weeks of local racing, National Championships and the European Championships, with Lukas Flueckiger returning to the top 10 after a difficult start.
It's been a long 4 days here in Munich and life is good. I'm sippin on some bavarian beer enjoying the nice weather finally here in Munich.

For those of you who haven't already seen it, episode one of the 'Atherton Project' is now airing on all good video platforms.
We are expecting a beautiful Enduro season with the 5th edition of the Enduro Series and the Second Edition of the Trophy of Nations.
Fox Racing Shox and the Athertons teamed up last season and made quite the impact with both Rach and Gee winning Worlds in 2008. For this year, they are continuing to work even closer together to refine the DHX RC4 rear shock and tune the forks to keep the Athertons on the podiums.
Catharine Pendrel finished in 5th and Georgia Gould fought back from a flat tire in the first lap to finish in 14th.

It's all been said about Houffalize, Belgium. Basically it's everything a Mountain Bike XC race should be.
With crowds to rival Fort William and a track that encouraged a bit of elbow action the racing was as good as it gets last weekend.
Gee Atherton has picked up his first 2009 win for team Animal Commencal in the opening round at the of the National Point Series in Ae Forest, Scotland.
Older brother Lukas scores 6th place here at World Cup Round 2, two spots better than round 1, and Mathias comes back from a difficult start to finish 21st (2nd in under 23 category).
