WORCS CHAMPIONSHIP / SPEEDWORLD RACEWAY, PHOENIX, AZ
RACE SUMMARYThe first race of the 2009 WORCS Championship kicked off in Surprise, AZ. this last weekend. FOX Racing Shox was well represented in a variety of classes over the two days of racing on a rough seven mile long desert track filled with some large jumps and sand washes. In the Pro ATV class it was Doug Eichner/Polaris/ FOX Racing Shox rider taking the lead into the back part of the course with Josh Fredericks MotoWorks/Can-Am/ FOX Racing Shox right behind Doug. Chad Weinen/Kawasaki/FOX Racing Shox came out to ride with the off-road racers today and had to start on the second row of the 38 pro rider field. Chad was fifth coming out of the first corner with a blazing start on his factory Kawasaki KFX 450. Chad was on a tear and found himself leading coming out of the off road section. Chad's lead was short lived as the Kawasaki experienced a mechanical problem on the second lap. Josh Fredericks was left with a nice lead that he kept to the end of the two hour long race. French rider Jeremy Warnia riding the MotoWorks/Can-Am/ FOX Racing Shox quad had a great debut in America with a fourth place finish in the Pro class, after an end over end crash at the start of the Pro race. Jeremy came from the back of the field and was contending for third at the end of the race. Doug Eichner held on to a fifth place finish, followed by FOX Racing Shox rider Mike Machado in sixth, and Ryan Piplic in 7th. It was a great start to a long season of racing ahead.
Other notable FOX Racing Shox racers that were able to win their classes were Buddy Williams in the 70cc Open Class. Grant Mitchell had an Epic weekend winning four classes in the 12-15 Open, 12-15 Stock, Shifter Mod, and the Unclassified ATV. Cole Fite made his entrance into the large ATV classes with riding a punched our 250F with a 6th place in the Sport 15-29 class, a third in the Open B. Cole is looking at a bright career in the large ATV classes. FOX Racing Shox would like to congratulate all of the riders that are supporting our products at the WORCS races this year.
